To ensure that you will absolutely love your waxing experience with us, we would like you to know a few things about “Before and After Care” prior to your waxing appointment…
- Hair must be 1/4 inch in length to wax. This is usually about 2 weeks of growth.
- Shower and exfoliate before you come.
- Absolutely NO TANNING (sun or sun beds) 24 hours before and after waxing!
- Please refrain from waxing if you are currently using Glycolic Acid, Retin A or Roaccutane, as well as if you have any sort of rash, infection, or skin disorder. Let your technician know about any medications you are currently using.
- Ditch the super tight clothing and wear something comfortable! (Skinny jeans rubbing against freshly waxed skin is not a pleasant experience.)
- Avoid soaking in a hot tub/bath and heavy sweating for 24 hours after your waxing.... and yes this means no sexual activity. Keep your waxed areas clean and take care of your skin! This will ensure the ultimate waxing benefits!
- Do not shave or use depilatory cream between waxes. This will distort hair growth and also allow your roots to be just as strong as they were before your first waxing. Keep up on regular waxing every 4-6 weeks which will provide you with thinner, smoother, and slower growing hair.
- Do not pick ingrown hairs! Picking can cause infection, which is something no one wants to deal with. Instead, wait until your appointment and talk to your esthetician. You can also find many products in our boutique to help fight ingrown hairs.
Spray Tan info:
We provide our clients with Custom Airbrush Spray Tans. What exactly does “custom” mean? Well, let us explain…you will be hand sprayed by one of our Estheticians, ensuring that you will leave with a natural and even looking tan. No need to watch a video or put on funny looking feet and hair protectors…just follow the guidelines below to make sure you're spray tan ready!
- Any waxing should be done before you get your spray tan.
- Exfoliate before you come.
- Bring flip flops and wear loose clothing to your session.
- Wear dark clothing, as the cosmic bronzer may rub off onto your clothing.
- You may go completely nude if you want to forgo tan lines or wear your bathing suit/underwear. Sorry guys, we ask that you cover up.
- After your spray tan, avoid showering, swimming, heavy perspiring, or applying any liquids/creams for eight hours.
- Keep moisturized in the days following your tan.
- We recomend Tahitian Tan Mist for your face, hands, and feet as they fade faster than the tan on your body.
- Prolong your tan with Tahitian Tan Extender, especially if you're planning to be in the water excessively.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Does waxing hurt?
We aren’t going to lie about it…waxing can be uncomfortable. The first time is always the worst, simply because your roots are at their strongest/thickest. If you keep up on waxing regularly, your roots have little time to become strong, thus making it easier to get waxed. We do provide a numbing cream for sale in our boutique. If interested, please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to purchase and apply the cream before your service.
What kind of wax do you use?
We use a chocolate strip wax (a piece of muslin is used to pull it) and/or a berry hard wax (the wax cools on your body and is pulled without muslin).
Do you double dip?
Absolutely not! We adhere to a strict NO double dipping policy and use a new wax stick on every dip!
I’m really nervous. Can someone come in the room with me?
We're sorry, But no. We do not allow anyone in the service rooms but the client and tech. Your moral support is more than welcome to hang out in the waiting area.
It’s only been a week since I shaved. Is my hair long enough?
Unfortunately, the answer is probably not. Most people need about 2 weeks of growth for hair to be long enough to wax however, everyone is different. It is possible that your hair may grow rapidly. To ensure that we can remove all the hair at your appointment, it is best to wait until ALL the hair is ¼ inch long.
How long does waxing last?
Once all your hair is on the same growth cycle, you should have about 2 weeks of no growth. You will then have 2 weeks of your hair slowly growing in until it is long enough to be waxed again. A total of 4-6 weeks between waxing on the body. Brows and facial waxing can be as little as 2-4 weeks.
What should I expect my skin to be like afterwards? Is there any aftercare advice?
Most people’s skin will be slightly red and tender to the touch for a few hours afterwards. Depending on where you get waxed, you may notice that the redness stays longer (your bikni area can be up to 24 hours). For 24 hours after waxing you should avoid tanning, unprotected sun exposure, soaking in a hot bath/tub, exercising, and sexual activity. Your pores are open and susceptible to bacteria…so keep that area clean. Call us with any concerns you may have!
I had a Brazilian a few days ago and noticed there are some hairs still there. Can I come back to get them waxed?
Yes! We offer free Touch Ups with all of our Brazilian waxes. The first few times people get Brazilians, they often can have hair remaining that is either too short to wax or about to break through the surface. We always offer and encourage our clients to come back in within 7 days for their FREE Touch Up. The service must be with the same tech they saw for their Brazilian and within 7 days.
I use a face lotion with Retin A. Can I still get waxed?
We advise against waxing if you use retinol products because it can cause thinning of the skin, making it much more sensitive. We can tweeze your brows and lip for you, but the best thing to do is to stop using the product for 5 days prior to your waxing appointment. Always let your technician know if you are using ANY products containing Retinol.
Can I get waxed if I’m Pregnant?
Yes. We suggest you run it by your doctor just to be safe!
I just got my period. Can I still get a Brazilian Wax?
You can still get waxed during your menstrual cycle if you wish, although it is important to know you will most likely be extra sensitive. You must wear a tampon during your service to ensure the upmost cleanliness.
Will my hair grow back darker and thicker after waxing?
Waxing actually helps to do the opposite. Regular waxing can actually stunt your hair’s growth, making it more sparse.
I’m going on vacation soon. When should I get waxed?
We recommend that you get waxed at least 2 days prior to your vacation. You don’t want to sport that cute new bikini with a red bikini line. You also want to let that area calm down and heal itself before being out in the sun. We also recommend that you get waxed a few times before your vacation (and/or wedding!), so all of your hairs will be on the same growth cycle.
Always feel free to email us or call with any other questions!
