Maintaining Your Brazilian: Gym Edition
My fellow gym-goers,
Trying to maintain the perfect Brazilian and a healthy body? You’re not alone-as an avid CrossFitter and health enthusiast, this is something that I myself have struggled with. Here are my tips and tricks to maintain healthy skin.
Let’s talk exfoliation:
- I recommend scrubbing with a bikini brush after your workouts 2-3 times a week. Ingrown hairs are less common if you exfoliate regularly. Tight clothes, like workout leggings, compress the hair against your body and increase the chances of getting an ingrown hair. Using a bikini brush to exfoliate will help guide those hairs out of the skin’s surface as they grow back. You can dry- brush before the shower or use it in the shower after the skin softens from the warm water.
Keep the surface of your skin clear of bacteria and debris build-up:
- Use witch hazel before and after your workout! It has antimicrobial properties that kill surface bacteria and reduces oil production while tightening your skin. I recommend Thayers Witch Hazel which is alcohol-free so it won’t dry out your skin.
- Tend Skin is my go-to! Sweat and bacteria can cause our skin to break out if we don’t treat it right after a good workout. Salicylic acid is the main ingredient which will assist in decreasing oil build-up and inflammation. Spot treat with Tend Skin after you wash as needed. **Do not use this product if you are allergic to Aspirin as it shares the same compounds. **
No longer will you sweat the small stuff with these amazing products. Staying consistent not only at the gym but with your skin is key.
