Tips For Spray Tanning In the Winter
The beautiful golden suntan that you perfected this summer is long gone and the cold, cloudy days of winter have returned. Luckily you don’t need to move to a tropical island to get your tan back. Spray tanning is a safe and effective method for achieving a beautifully bronzed complexion, even in the dead of winter. Spray tans can last up to 10 days, but you can maintain your tan all winter long by doing some upkeep beforehand and sticking with a regular tanning routine. Here are our best tips for making your spray tan last this winter.
Exfoliation is essential for an even spray tan. Gently exfoliating your skin with a mild scrub will remove dead and dry skin and give you a smooth canvas for your tan. Smooth skin also absorbs color better and prolongs the life of your tan.
Avoid the Shower
Our Regular Spray Tan takes about 8 hours to fully absorb and our Express Spray Tan takes roughly 2 hours to set in. You may be anxious to rinse off and see the results of your tan right when you get home, but this will prevent your tan from fully developing. Hold off on jumping in the shower for the recommended amount of time for the best results.
Skip the Gym
Sweat can cause your tan to be streaky, patchy and uneven so skip the gym for the first 24 hours after your spray tan. Be sure to properly rinse off before hitting the gym to ensure that you’ve removed all excess tanner.
You should avoid moisturizing the first day after getting a spray tan because it strips away the color, however, moisturizing during the following week is the best way to keep your tan from fading too quickly. We recommend moisturizing after every shower to keep your tan fresh and rich.
Spray tanning is a great way to feel like you’ve just been sitting poolside even when it’s snowing outside. Our spray tans are evenly applied by one of our trained technicians in less than five minutes. Call us today to book an appointment and get your sun-kissed look back this season.
